Chariho Alternative Learning Academy - Alternative Learning Program (ALP)
7:30-2:15 Monday through Friday (main campus)
The ALP services 7th through 12th grade students. To be considered for enrollment in the ALP program, students must receive a referral from their school guidance counselor and complete an application. The application requires input from the student, parent/guardian and current teachers. Once the application is completed and reviewed, an interview is scheduled and conducted by ALP staff and the Academy director.
With the benefit of small classes and a hands-on, project based learning approach, the ALP staff develops individual learning plans for students and maintains frequent contact with families. All students have access to credit recovery opportunities, job coaching and internships. ALP students in 9th through 12th grade develop a formal graduation plan with their teachers and receive assistance to complete all graduation requirements. In partnership with families, the ALP staff supports students as they work to reach their personal goals.
