Chariho Alternative Learning Academy: Growing Together
At the Chariho Alternative Learning Academy, our mission is to provide a personalized, supportive learning environment where students receive the academic, social-emotional, and mental health support they need to succeed in school and in life. Our dedicated team of teachers, clinicians, and behavior management assistants are committed to doing whatever it takes to help students realize their full potential. Through innovative instruction, therapeutic strategies, and tailored accommodations, we guide students toward the ultimate goal of earning a high school diploma and thriving in their communities.
We’re excited to share an important update on how we’re continuing to expand and strengthen our program. In collaboration with the Rhode Island Department of Education’s Office of School and District Improvement, we are building on the strengths that have defined CALA over the past five years—namely, our commitment to project-based learning, real-world community experiences, social-emotional growth, and personalized graduation planning. These elements empower students to take ownership of their education, connect learning to their lives, and gain the skills needed to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
Strong family partnerships and a hands-on, engaging curriculum are the foundation of our students' growth. We invite you to reach out to learn more about CALA’s unique programming, including our expanding internship and community-based opportunities.
