Special education students are referred to the CALA Clinical Day School through the IEP team process. Those students who are in need of a therapeutic day school placement are eligible candidates. When the IEP team, working with the Director and/or Assistant Director of Special Education, believe that a student may be a candidate they will complete a CALA Clinical Day School referral packet and forward it to the Director of Alternative Programs. Once the packet is received, and whenever appropriate, the director may opt to call together a team of individuals who have worked with the student in the past as well as clinical day staff to gather additional information and begin planning for the student’s placement. Prior to acceptance into the program, the Director of Alternative Programs and the Clinical Services Director will meet with the student and student’s parent/guardian to gather information and to answer any questions. Final student acceptance into the school is at the discretion of the Program Director.
